If you POWER cast you must use a SHOCKLEADER.

The accepted formula is :-
for every ounce (oz) of weight your Shockleader should be 10lb.
ie. 5 oz x 10lb = a 50lb Shockleader.

Uni Leader knot

Tie a half-hitch in the leader and thread the main line thro it.

pull the hitch tight with pliers, then tie a five turn uni knot.

High performance leader knot

Juniors may need adult supervision while using a HOT needle and Superglue

Flatten the end of the leader with pliers or a hammer.
Bore a neat hole with a hot needle. Insert main line.

Tie a standard uni knot.

Draw the tightened uni close to the hole, tighten and trim. You can also seal the joint with superglue.
